When Daddy's away, the ladies will play...

Gabe was gone last night which meant "Movie night with Mom!"... 2 of the three of them were asleep within the first 5 minutes of the movie and the 3rd and I weren't too far behind. We'll just have to start a little earlier next time :)

Happily,
Emily

PS I've had several inquiries as to when I'll be listing the Ocean Jasper earrings I displayed in a blog post the other day. The answer is... Monday!

Drumrolllllllll pleeeeease...

Well folks, I've been thinking for a while now that it's high time I do a little jewelry GIVE-AWAY 'round these parts... and I've officially decided that the "high time" has come...

Here's the deal... I would like to give away a "Conversation Piece" customized for yours truly! All you have to do is leave a comment on this post and include whatever fun or clever word/phrase/quote etc you'd want your bubble to say... the cleverer (yes, that is ACTUALLY a word!) the better!

As I'm not sure how often people pop in to read my blog, (I would HATE the thought of someone being left out if I cut the contest off on Wednesday, and Thursday was their "get cozy with a cup of Raspberry Pomegranate green tea and catch up on blogs" day) I'm gonna stretch the contest out over the course of this coming week, culminating in a winner drawn at random 1 week from today, Friday, March 6th. All comments must be made by midnight (central standard time) on Thursday, March 5th. The lucky gal (or gent - you never know!) will win the pin and I shall stamp the phrase onto it that they included with their comment.

***An added bonus... I'd like to use this as an opportunity to snag some fresh material so, for any other "especially clever" quotes/phrases/etc that I happen to use in the future (with your permission of course) on any of my pieces, that quote's author/submitter will receive a 10% discount off any 1 piece of jewelry, be it in my shop, or custom order. Just keep that in mind when the brain-wheels start-a-turnin! :)***

Alrighty! I think that's that for now - may the creative juices begin to flow on my count...

GO!!!

Happily,
Emily

PS I've had a few people ask me how many words they can use... I don't really know what the answer to that is except to say that I have a few different size stamps... the one you see pictured in the above photo and a smaller set that would allow for more words. Just put down whatever you want and if you win and I have concerns about it fitting, I'll contact you and we'll figure something out.

The goods...

Here they are, sans their monochromatic state... most from the other day with a few newbies thrown in.
Happily,
Emily

PS Stop back Friday for a bit of an announcement-a-roo! hehehe... I LOVE cliffhangers...

Milestone...

I don't necessarily know what this milestone means but I just realized that this is my 100TH BLOG POST!!! WOOT WOOT!!!

Ok, now that that's out of the way, I just wanted to mention that after a few "gentle promptings" to show off my most recent batch of treasures in color, rest assured I will be doing just that very soon. I actually finished a few more pieces tonight that I didn't get a chance to photograph. Once I get pics taken, I'll show them all off.

(Oh, and by the way, it was almost 60 DEGREES HERE TODAY.. high of 55 forecasted for tomorrow... then freezing rain and snow tomorrow night...)

PEACE OUT!

Patrons of the arts...

This past Friday night, my mom, my brother and his little girl, and me-n-my little women went to a showing of "Mulan" put on by our local community theatre. A few young ladies from our church were in it so we wanted to support them and "The Cousins" are ALWAYS up for going to "The Theee-ah-tah" (as Isabel calls it in her fanciest, fancy-lady voice).

We only had one who had to go potty during the show, someone asked if we could "pause it", and Sophie asked no fewer than 22 times if someone was "gonna hit dat dwagon???" (there was a dragon-shaped gong at the side of the stage that no one ever did end up hitting).

Here are a few shots from where we sat...

Right before the show started: Please take note of how very thrilled my brother is in the top left portion of the picture (right by Sophie's finger). I'm not gonna lie, we were texting back and forth a bit. WE COULDN'T HELP IT! The kid playing Mulan's love interest reminded us of Ben Stiller in "Zoolander" and we were sitting too far apart to talk about it...

During intermission: Check out Isabel's hat - she made it HERSELF with a sleeve from a tie-dyed t-shirt, a pink headband, a doily, and a blue flower on a bobby pin. After I saw that concoction, I told her I was going to teach her how to use my sewing machine. She did a "silent scream face" and about flew out of her seat...

On a totally unrelated topic, I am planning on having some new pieces to "show and tell" over the next few days using some of my new stones and beads from my recent "stone and bead excursion"... I can't wait to see them myself!

Hope your week is off to a great start!!!

Happily,
Emily

Beddy-bye...

I should be sleeping, but, for some reason, its 11:23pm and I'm still sitting at my computer.

I ALWAYS have the greatest of intentions to going to bed at a decent and reasonable hour but it very seldom ever happens...

PS Dennis Miller is on Leno and I'm getting quite a kick out of it :)

Up to my knees in domesticity...

So, it's official. I break washing machines. Apparently, I pack them too full, and over time, they get all thrown out of whack and die. While I was on my trip, my hubby went out and purchased what will be the 3rd washing machine we've had in this house since we moved in almost 6 years ago, and, in what I can only surmise was an act of kindness, he took it upon himself to break in the new machine and wash every single stitch of clothing to our names.(yes, that is an advent calendar hanging in the top right of the picture and yes, I finally did take down the tree and all the Christmas decorations tonight).

It was nice returning to clean laundry, except for the tiny fact that it ALL still needed to be sorted, folded, and put away. :)

Enter me and my aforementioned "domesticity".

I spent the day (and when I say "day" I mean from 10:00 this morning to almost 6:00 tonight, breaking only to fix lunch for the kiddos and change the occasional diaper) sorting clothes, folding clothes, reassigning clothes, and even repurposing a few items that had finally succumbed to their holes or stains. Here's a shot of a few of our newly created accessories after I took a pair of scissors to a few pieces that had seen better days...They are each wearing "headbands" made from waistbands cut from old pants, "arm warmers" made from sleeves cut from old shirts, and a few other doo-dads cut from here and there. Ya, we had some fancy ladies around here tonight. :)

Emily

Home again, home again, jiggity-jig...

Ok, so I actually returned home a few days ago, but my time since then has been filled with playing catch-up... on rest, on laundry, on hugging my babies, on kissing my honey, etc.

I cannot begin to express how much anticipated and AMAZING this trip was for me!!! Not only did I find myself a whole MESS of treasures, I got to spend 4 days with one of the most incredible people God ever plopped onto this vast planet of ours.

I am often blown away when I think about how people's paths cross on this earth and I can only come to the conclusion that God Himself is orchestrating it all.

We both typically go a little overboard when it comes to picture taking but for some reason, we ended up a few days into the trip and realizing that we hadn't taken ANY and only ended up snapping a few shots...

Leavin' on a jet plane...

This place made me laugh...

One of the largest Amethyst Druzies in the world on display outside one of the shows. It appeared to be 2 halves of an ENORMOUS geode and this photograph only shows about 1/4 of one of the halves. Don't think I didn't think about how I could get it on the airplane with me, but then I immediately realized how much I'd have to pay in "overweight baggage fees" and I was suddenly content with just looking...

A little vegetation I don't typically see here in the midwest (and yes, it is strung with Christmas lights)...

Having a thoughtful moment by the fire (though I'm positive we busted up laughing immediately after this shot was taken)...

Happily,
Emily

Hittin' the road...

...or the sky rather...

Yep, I'm leavin' in the morning for a much anticipated, VERY much needed mini-vacation where I will be doing the following (in no particular order)...

- Meeting up with one of my VERY most favorite people on the face of the planet (WA-HOO!!!)

- Flying BY MYSELF for the first time... ever...

- Acting like a silly teenager again - a very responsible, silly teenager.

- Drinking Starbucks (repeatedly I'm sure)

- NOT wiping any runny noses (sorry Jilly, you're on your own with that)

- Buying rocks (and beads, and chain, and whatever else fits my fancy...)

- Eating out somewhere amazing, at least once, and not having to cut anyone's meat or take anyone to the bathroom (again, sorry J) :)

Though I will have my computer with me while I'm away, I can't say for sure what the internet service will be like so, I'll check back in if I can, and if I can't, I'll be back next week with pics!!!

Happily,
Emily

The goods...

Well, here they are... the fruits of my last few weeks labor (though my actual work time was sporadic and only amounting to a total of 3.5 actual "work days"... BLAST the dreaded Influenza!!!)

ENJOY!!!

If Siren's were real (not the kind on fire trucks, but the ladies that live in the sea and seduce lonely fisherman) I'm CONVINCED you'd fine one of them wearing something like this...

Custom order for a lovely new mommy!...

Custom order...

Into the Woods (this isn't really a piece of wood... not really sure what it is ti tell the truth - just looks like a tiny piece of wood flooring to me)...

One of the last Christmas presents I still had on my list of gifts to finish...

Custom order "Fordite" ring (this stuff is so interesting! If you aren't familiar with it, it is actually layers and layers of dried auto paint that comes from auto-body/paint shops and is cut and polished into cabs!)...

A little embellishment experiment...

A custom order and officially the LARGEST ring (or piece of jewelry for that matter) that I've created to date! It's quite a whopper but super fun to wear. I'm sure it will turn a few heads...

WHEW!

Happily,
Emily

Happy Birthday Mom...

Mamma and me...I love you mom, so very much more than I'm sure I'd ever be able to express. I can't imagine what I would do without you but, even during those rare occasions where we don't have contact for a day or two, just knowing you're only a few blocks away is a comfort (Lord knows we tried the "1278.46 miles apart" thing and that did NOT go over well... though despite any distance, you have ALWAYS "been there", no matter where "there" was.)

I could not ask for a better mom, and I can't help but draw the conclusion that anything I'm doing right as a mother myself, is because of you.

Even though I'm grown now, and we don't sit up together at the kitchen table till 2:00am, chatting about whatever happened to be on our minds and hearts like we used to, I am SO thankful for the relationship that we have and I am excited to watch our friendship grow.

"Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all."

-Proverbs 31: 28-29

I am officially calling you blessed:)

Happy Birthday Mom.
Love you Lots. :)
