Enough is MORE than enough...

So, remember my last post where I was whining about kids being sick?... well... it turned out to be Influenza A officially, with a touch of croup, and though Isabel got a touch of the flu and was over it within a day or two, Lillie and Sophie (which COINCIDENTALLY were both on long-term antibiotics when they were tiny... don't GET me started on the "A" word...) are still feeling kinda blah. I actually got a touch of it Thursday night and felt pretty "out of commission" all day Friday, and Gabe got it as well. This is the first day in a week though that no one's temp was over 99 so I'm calling this a good day. I'm finding myself longing for Spring and the "lack of flu" it tends to bring.

On to happier things... here a few pics I was just able to get off of my camera... 1 week, 2 little women, 3 teeth lost (Isabel had been waiting for what she would describe as "FOREVER" to lose a tooth and was THRILLED to lose 2 within 3 days) :)

Enjoying drinking through a straw through the newly acquired gap...

Having trouble biting through anything harder than a banana (with another tooth loose at the moment)...Happily,

"Peek at my Pad" Thursday #15"...

Prepare yourself for you may be in for an earful...

Have you ever had one of those days? You know, the kind where all it takes is for your hubby to ask how you're doing for you to burst into tears?
Oh you have!?
Excellent.
Than I'm not alone.
So many things that, in and of themselves would be nothing major, but when piled all together, create a sort of a "ticking tear time bomb" of sorts.

(SIDENOTE: If only children would get sick all at the same time, rather than this chain reaction craziness that ends up sucking up a week and a half of our lives. Or better yet, if only children wouldn't get sick to begin with...)

ANYWHO... enough whining...A photo of one of my newest and dearest friends... The Dyson "Animal" next to the curtains in my living room. I may still have to actually vacuum around here (so far just snapping my fingers hasn't worked) but at least this bad boy makes it a little easier - that and the fact that I never have to change a vacuum bag again just about sends me sailing :)

Uh-oh... somebody's crying...

FORCING herself to remember to be thankful...

Snack time...

...She knows she's gotta keep 'em covered so he doesn't snag them, and he knows that she's bound to drop one sooner or later...

I LOVE dark chocolate...

...and she's about as dark as they get!
Just thought I'd share a quick shot of the Christmas present that my siblings and I went in together to get for our mom. And her name is... you guessed it - Cocoa. :)

"Peek at my Pad" Thursday #14"...

I kinda took a break from Pad Peekin' to but fear not! All is back as it should be :)...This is a photo of the "magnetic board" on the wall at the top of the basement stairs, next to the kitchen. It is actually an old, patterned cookie sheet I found at the thrift shop for about 50 cents. I LOVE using things for purposes other than what they were originally intended for! :)

Snackin' it up...

I don't care for celery. Never have. Not cooked, not raw, not accompanying hot wings, not no way, not no how. Not in a box or even with a fox. But, for some reason, I had the urge to buy some for the express purpose of holding some peanut butter. It is now my favorite snack. And no Mom, I am NOT pregnant. It just kind of hit me the other day as I was looking at myself in the mirror, a *few* pounds heavier than I was before the holiday season began, and SEVERAL pounds heavier than I was on my wedding day, that if I don't buy crap at the grocery store, there won't be any crap in my house to eat. So, I headed off to the store (WITHOUT children no less) and filled my cart to the brim with all the ammo I'd need to get "ME" back. I'm on my way folks and it feels divine.

In other news I FINALLY found my camera battery charger and was able to photograph a few new pretties... what think you of these???

Back in the saddle again...

Ok, I don't know what my deal has been but for some reason, I had it in my mind that my first blog back from "Christmas Break" was gonna have to be something super spectacular and fantabulous, and since nothing particularly fantabulous has been going on, I was stalling. I decided enough was enough and I'm just gonna dive back in. Here are some random smatterings that have been my life over the last few weeks...

Christmas was FABULOUS but once again, it came and went far too quickly. I really feel for the first time this year though, I was able to completely relate to something I remember my mom talking about that previously, I never quite understood. Sitting there, watching the joy on my kids' faces as they enjoyed Christmas was truly spectacular and would have been gift enough had I received nothing else. That being said, I DID receive something else (several "something elses" but one in particular bears mentioning).

An abbreviated version of a conversation between my husband (Gabe) and some of the guys he works with...

Guys: "So, what are you gonna be gettin' the old lady for Christmas?" (Yes, for some reason, when guys chat with each other, they feel the need to refer to their wives as "my old lady"... Gabe insists he doesn't refer to me that way but I'm not so sure I believe him...)

Gabe: "Well, I was kinda thinking I might get her a drill press."

Guys: "WHAT?!?? WHOA man! You are SOOOO gonna be in the dog house!!!"

Gabe: "No, actually I won't, since she was the one that told me that's what she wanted."

Guys: (pause) "Can we go shopping with you???"

Long story short, I got a DRILL PRESS FOR CHRISTMAS!!!! YAAAAY! It's almost as good as the time I got a dremmel for Valentine's day - and I'm NOT even being sarcastic!

Our time since Christmas has been spent dealing with blizzards and pinkeye and just about everything in between, including the untimely death of my cell phone over New Year's eve... you know, the phone that had housed the phone numbers of everyone on the entire planet I would ever need to get a hold of, tons of pics of my kids, notes I had left for myself, birthdays, appointments, reminders, etc - ALL GONE. My knees actually buckled a bit when I got the official news from the girl at the Verizon store and I think there were a few people who were seriously concerned I may start throwing things. One clerk turned to the girl who was helping me and quietly reminded her to make sure the phone wasn't wet. I shot her a look that "encouraged" her to go back to whatever it was that she had been doing and for the rest of the day all I could say was "Oh MAN!" over and over as I was continually reminded of things that had been in my phone and were now gone forever. All that being said, I ended up with a new phone and as Verizon does not yet carry the iPhone, getting a blackberry was my next logical choice. I have officially been referred to as "hoity-toity" after sending "someone" an email from my phone (hehehe) and I am like, totally ok with that because the fact that I can go on Facebook from my phone and send an email from the grocery store makes up for it entirely. :)

Life is good and I wouldn't trade mine for the world :)

I'm just gonna finish this post out with some photos from the last few weeks...
