"Peek at my Pad" Thursday" #24...

I think I mentioned something several weeks ago about showing pics of my kids' rooms and as we just had a bit of "big girl bed" swapping, I thought this would be the perfect time!

This is a pic of Isabel on her new "big girl bed". She had previously been sleeping in our crib, converted into it's "toddler bed" form, and Sophie had been sleeping in our playpen. As it had come to our attention that Sophie was almost as long as the playpen, we thought it time for a change.

One of the neatest things is that Lillie and, now Isabel's, bed frames are the very ones that my sister and I had when we were growing up. Mr. G just about had a panic attack when he suddenly realized that these would probably be the beds the girls will be sleeping in till they move out of our house... oh man... I guess I hadn't even really thought about that till just now...

COMPLETELY random smatterings...

I was looking back through and organizing some of my recent pics and I found a few I thought I'd share with you...

My brother Chris has mastered the art of drinking just enough pop (yes, I called it "pop") out of the can so that it can balance on it's edge...

On our way to take my mom's puppy to have her "lady parts" removed. She bounced back just fine...

Went to Old Navy and noticed their attempt at color order organization. Not quite right, but close (and I'm not gonna lie and say I didn't consider rearranging things a bit)...

This little guy was foraging around around our garbage can and hit the deck when we pulled into the driveway...

What do you do right before bed? Why, you have a little dance party, that's what!...Happily,

Gettin' our kick on...

We just returned from Lillie's first soccer game of the season. After a few days of temps near the 90's, I don't know that it has even gotten up past 45 yet today! It was chilly but SO MUCH FUN! I know at this age they shy away from keeping score but for the record, I do believe we won, 4 - 1!
Here are a few shots from the day...

Waiting to get started...

Lillie and her friend Taylor both going after the ball (it was actually Taylor's birthday today! Happy Birthday Tay!)...

Action shot (when Lillie saw this pic, she asked "when was that picture taken? I don't remember falling over!")...

Trying to keep warm!

"Peek at my Pad" Thursday (on Friday) #23...

Ok, so I did fudge a little this week... I was quite uninspired as to what I should give you peek at, so I'm kind of using a spot I've used before, except THIS time, there's a vase of lovely yellow-tipped orange tulips that I picked up from Wal-Mart no less!

Gabe was gone and I was feeling the need for a floral pick-me-up (which is strange as I don't usually go crazy over flowers, much less tulips) but for some reason, I just couldn't resist...When Gabe got home, this was the conversation that ensued...

Gabe: "Hey, what's with the flowers?"

Me: "Oh ya, those are the flowers you surprised me with when I was out shopping the other day"

Gabe: "Oh cool! I did good."

Now if I could just get HIM to be the one to actually surprise ME with flowers sometime other than Valentines Day... Of course it's entirely possible that all the money he would have been spending on flowers for me over the last few years has been hoarded away in an empty mayonnaise jar somewhere to be taken to Home Depot and exchanged for a DISHWASHER?!???... a girl can dream can't she???

I couldn't help myself...

So, what do you do when you're missing your honey??? Why, you make yourself a necklace of course!

(sappy I know, just cut me some slack would ya!??)

... and what do you do when you start to feel guilty about making stuff for yourself? You make a truckload of stuff for other people!

Photographic documentation as promised...

So, as I mentioned briefly last Thursday, I was going to be taking part in an event put on by the young adults group at our church. The event was entitled "FNL" (a take on "Saturday Night Live" but on Friday instead) and I did indeed take part.

We did several SNL skits, one of which was the spoof of "The Lawrence Welk Show". I don't know if you've seen it or not but it's TOTALLY worth watching... several times if I do say so myself (perhaps you don't share my sense of humor but I'll admit I still laugh so hard I CRY whenever I watch it!)

ANYWHO... as no one else was comfortable enough to step up and be the "one of these things is not like the other" sister, I OF COURSE was MORE than willing to dive in head first. :)

I only WISH you could have been there...

Blonde wig and caveman teeth... $9
Eyeliner pencil for "unibrow"... $1.50
Windbreaker, stretchy skirt, and silver pumps circa 1986, purchased from Goodwill... $15
Dismembered baby doll, also from Goodwill... $2

Final "look"?... PRICELESS.

"Peek at my Pad" Thursday #22...

Ok, so it's not technically Thursday anymore but I figure, if I haven't gone to bed yet, then it's still Thursday.

Here is a shot into my closet that I LOVE. There are several things I would change about our house if I were able to snap my fingers and make it exactly how I want it... but this closet is one thing I would NOT touch. This photo really doesn't do it justice as it is quite roomy, taking no less than 6 full steps to get from the doorway to the back. It almost makes up for the lack of a dishwasher... ALMOST.

PS I finished a few goodies today but I haven't had a chance to photograph them yet. I've been a little extra busy lately preparing for 2 sketches I'll be in for the "FNL" (Friday Night Live) event being put on tomorrow night by the young adults group at our church. Pictures of the event to come... (I'll give you a bit of a teaser/hint: I recently purchased myself some nasty-looking false teeth... hehehe...)

Happy Resurrection day!!!

He IS risen indeed!!! There couldn't be a more exciting time in history to be a Christian!... well, maybe 2000 years ago, but I'll settle for now!

I just thought I'd pop in and share a few photos from our weekend!

Getting ready to color eggs at Grandma's house. It was VERY tempting (especially for Sophie) to mess with the cups of vinegar as the little color tablets were starting to dissolve so I had them all hold their hands up till it was time to get started with the eggs... they all held this pose surprisingly well and as far as I know, no one got any egg dye on their clothes...

Showing off their new Easter "dancers" (Sophie's word for anything you wear that you can twirl in, skirts and dresses mostly but the occasional flouncy shirt is included)...

Sophie showing off her gift from Aunt Allison. What's better than a tiny Barbie? A tiny Barbie dressed like a sheep, that's what...I hope you all had a wonderful and blessed Easter holiday!!!

"Peek at my Pad" Thursday #21...

I have always been a BIG fan of rearranging furniture and changing things around but sadly, with the way our house is laid out, there are only so many options as far as furniture placement is concerned. That, paired with the fact that I'm NOT a big fan of moving couches all by myself means that I have had to resort to rearranging things on a smaller scale (ie: desktops, shelves, etc).

Though I don't think I have a "before" picture, today's photo is an example of a recent rearrangement. Partly done out of necessity (I was DESPERATE for a place to have all our bills together in one spot, as well as a place for other various junk-mail-type-items to live prior to their imminent shredding doom - a place that was NOT the ottoman in the middle of the living room or the floor right inside the front door) and partly out of the need to scratch the itch to rearrange.

This green desk (bought at the flea market for $20) used to be home to our ENORMOUS cd player and detached speakers. Out with the cd player and in with a sleeker, more petite ipod speaker/radio as well as a sweet little drawer unit from IKEA (quite possibly my most FAVORITE store on the face of the earth... even though the store closest to where I live is no less than 4 hours away - WELL worth a weekend road trip). Also living there are several family photos (not near enough if you ask me), a stained glass turtle lamp, and a pumpkin spice candle sitting in a candle holder which was actually an ashtray I bought at goodwill for 50¢.

I'm still not totally pleased with the current arrangement but it's a work in progress, I'm sure I'll post a pic once it's all "just so".

Happy peek day!

On the road again...

Oh MAN do we miss this guy.

I feel like the little women and I have started to get into a bit of a schedule of sorts while he's been away (home for only a few days here and there over the last several weeks) but for some reason, this latest stint seems to be dragging on a little EXTRA slow.
As hard as it is to pull double-parent duty and take care of all the things that Mr. G would normally deal with (including getting everything together we need to get our taxes done - YIKES), I could not be more proud of my honey. I don't know another man on the planet with a better work ethic and with a stronger drive to take care of his family as well as my man has. He loves me completely and I am SO thankful for him and for the life we have made together. And don't even GET me started on what an amazing father he is...

Come home soon Daddy.

Etsy treats...

As far as etsy is concerned, (and really jewelry in general) my motto is,

"Don't buy anything you could make yourself"

I recently received 2 goodies in the mail that I most certainly could NOT have made for myself...

I've been going back and forth for quite some time now between getting a bag from Moop or drikab - both FABULOUS purveyors of loverly bags on etsy. Though I'm sure I'll get myself a moop bag at some point (like perhaps an adjustable strap market bag in some shade of rust???) I finally decided that dirkab would be first. I snagged one of her weekender bags - half orange tiles, half grey wool. I LOVE it but I've been so busy, I haven't had a chance to fill-'er-up yet! I think when I do, I'll do a "what's in your bag?" post... (I'm almost as curious about what people carry around in their purses as I am about how they decorate their homes!)

The second item is from one of my ALL TIME FAVOTRITE etsyians... Ms. Iris of radcow. She is my go-to-gal whenever I get the hankerin' for another piece of leather to strap around my wrist, the most recent piece to add to my collection being a woodgrain-patterned leather cuff watch. I love love LOVE it!!!

(I couldn't resist)Happily,

10 Things I know from looking at this picture...

In no particular order...

1. I NEED to clean off my desk.

2. Everyone should have a circle scarf that matches their calculator.

3. I LOVE me some Soduko... enough to make sure I always have a book close at hand.

4. "Flat Stanley" is a pretty cool dude. Though the strong and silent type, he did finally admit to me how excited he is for his upcoming adventure out west... (

5. Kashi crackers + laughing cow garlic herb cheese wedge + tomatoes + LOTS of pepper = DELICIOUS... oh how my heart aches for the lactose intolerant people of the world :(

6. I have hesitated to discriminate in the past but I am officially ready to admit that green is indeed my favorite color.

7. I need to talk to my brother to see why the FRIG I can't figure out how to save anything to a CD on my computer.

8. "The Office" = BEST SHOW EVER.

9. I need to make myself some more bangle bracelets... I didn't have near enough "jingle jangle" going on.

"Peek at my Pad" Thursday #20...

This is a shot of one of the only unpainted walls left upstairs - the hallway leading to our room (it's the wall opposite where the Always Kiss Me Goodnight sign is hanging). On the other side of the stair step wall is the staircase leading downstairs.

I stopped painting where I did partly, because I'm thinking I'm going to need some sort of scaffolding situation in order to get all the way to the top of the other side of that wall, and partly because I ran out of paint. I fear, had I not run out of paint when I did, I may have tried to paint it anyway, resorting to a roller at the end of a broom handle and a paintbrush duct-taped to the end of a yardstick, most likely culminating in the need for a neck brace.

The things I place on that little ledge tend to rotate every now and again but at the moment, a pumpkin spice candle and my big green vase find their home there.

The metal circle thingie hanging on the wall is actually a placemat made out of washers and spray painted black that I found at Pier1 and use as a way to display my earrings at the few shows I've done...It's so cool looking and as I don't do too many shows, I figured I should find a cool place for it.

Happy Peek day!!!

If only I could actually speak elvish...

I have a mirror down in my workshop so that I can check how necklaces hang on a human lady neck during their creation and yesterday while busy as a bee, I happened to glance over into the mirror and couldn't help but notice that in my red and grey striped shirt and green apron, I looked very much like one of Santa's little helpers.

Oy vay.

I do love me some "Lord of the Rings" but this was taking it a BIT too far...

Here are a few of the goodies I finished yesterday while in my elfin get-up... Sorry ladies (except for 4 of you) these are all spoken for :) Just wanted to let you have a peek...

What isn't pictured are the parts of a new necklace that I am REALLY excited about! Some of it is yet to be fabricated, and other parts I have started piecing together. It's gonna be one of my most involved pieces thus far but a LOVELY bit of eye-candy if I do say so myself. No telling when I'll finish as it has really been a little here and a little there type of project but know that I will most DEFINITELY show YOU first!... Well, after I show Mr. G of course :)
